I ran across these old school ultra monster spreads over on Pink Tentacle yesterday and thought they were too fun not to post. They were painted by a man named Takayoshi Mizuki who seems to have painted about a million of these spreads are related to Ultraman. I think what I love most are the colors of each of these. I mean, the colors and how ridiculous each one of them really are. There’s even a spread with a Gamera looking creature riding a tank which is firing it’s canon, too cool.

these are classic!
A fantastic little animation by Yum Yum London.
Watch the short below, and a little more of their work too.
Brooklyn based artist and designer, Scott Albrecht, creates incredible work using my favorite material: wood. Creating objects ranging from wooden sculptures to typography, Scott’s work is conceptually and visually striking.
This piece, titled Heart Hands, is featured in his solo show “SOMETHINGMISTAKENFORNOTHING” at San Francisco’s The Curiosity Shoppe. The show opened last weekend, and is up until the 26th of September. If you’re in or around the Bay Area, definitely check it out.
In addition to wood works, Scott also has a great collection of drawings featuring upbeat phrases set in hand drawn geometrically patterned type. To see more of his work, check out his website and pay a visit to his store as well.

This is big for Murakami fans and collectors. The well known characters Kaikai and Kiki will be even more well known after their appearance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
If familiar figures like Kermit the Frog and SpongeBob SquarePants are simply too jejune for you as their larger-than-life, helium-filled representations wind their way toward Herald Square on Thanksgiving morning, the organizers of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade have added two new entrants to the 2010 lineup that they hope will appeal to more erudite tastes. Kaikai and Kiki, two weirdly cute (or is that cutely weird?) characters created by Takashi Murakami, the Japanese pop artist, are being turned into larger-than-life balloons that will mix it up with the traditional cartoon stars and corporate trademarks that will populate the parade’s 84th annual run on Nov. 25, the parade’s producers said on Thursday.
